The organisers of the much-anticipated Beauty Within Me Seminar (BWM) have announced an exciting speaker and panellist line-up for this summer’s event.

Soul Marketing, claim the event will uniquely address the growing trend and consumer demand for natural and nutritional products that aid the general wellbeing of black and ethnic minority women.

This welcome addition to the Hair and Beauty and Wellbeing calendar will be held on Saturday, August 25th and Sunday, August 26th, 2012 at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in central London.

Angela Tella, the award-winning author, dietician and lifestyle expert and Shirley McDonald, a respected senior trichologist, have been confirmed as expert guest speakers for the Hair and Beauty Seminar on Saturday, August 25th. Angela’s impressive client roster has included Pruhealth, Weight Watchers, The British Heart Foundation, NHS Southwark, NHS Lambeth and the Department of Health.

Tella, a graduate of Human Nutrition and Dietetics from King’s College London, is also the author of two award-winning books, Healthy, West African & Wise – The Complete Guide to a Healthy West African Diet and Lifestyle, and the accompanying Healthy, West African & Wise Food Guide. "This event presents a real opportunity to be part of the solution to some of the
health and beauty issues experienced by black and ethnic minority women today", Tella commented.

McDonald has written and lectured extensively on common hair and scalp disorders and studied advanced nutrition for practitioners with Institute of Nutrition I.O.N and gained the diploma in Natural Nutrition from the College of Natural Nutrition. McDonald commented: “Beauty Within Me provides a wonderful opportunity to promote the work of a trichologist and to highlight the various applications that damage the hair and scalp.”

The panel discussion on The Benefits of Natural Products will include Sonia Evelyn, CEO and founder of the FRO her range, one of the first black UK brands to go into Boots and Ronke Ige, founder of Emi & Ben natural skin care company, whose handmade unrefined body butters enjoy celebrity fans including TV presenters Myleene Klass and Angellica Bell. Andrea Lawrence, creator of Toulou Organics Skincare and Sisterlocks consultants Melissa Blake and Huguette Lawson will conduct the Caring for Your Child’s Hair and Skin Naturally workshop.

The dynamic and internationally renowned Afrikan Yoga founder Pablo Menfasawe-Imani will feature in the Health and Wellbeing seminar on Sunday, August 26th. Pablo is a certified Hatha Yoga teacher and in the past decade has developed a huge following for his yogic workshops. He is author of Afrikan Yoga ‘A Practical Guide to Smai Posture, Breath and Meditation’.
Menfasawe-Imani commented: “I'm looking forward to sharing information about Afrikan Yoga and how we can develop awareness of the body to help to assist healing and balance and further explore our own emotional bodies.”

Founder, Glen Yearwood developed the Beauty Within Me Seminar commented: “ Research highlighted a growing demand among people of colour growing and maintaining natural hair as well as exploring natural food and lifestyle changes. From our on-going research it was clear that this renaissance also supported information about wellbeing for chronic illnesses of which Ethnic Groups are over-represented”.
